Group Fitness Classes

ALL CLASSES ARE VIRTUAL DUE TO COVID 19!

Group classes are generally anywhere from 10 to 20 women, are 45 minutes lon, and there are classes available 5 days a week.

STROLLERFITHAMILTON:  If you’re serious about building strength, getting fit, and feeling great, this is the class for you. The format of this 60-minute stroller class allows participants to work at their own skill, fitness, and strength levels. If you love a high-intensity workout, you can choose to push the limits of your strength, speed, and endurance by choosing high-intensity options. If you’re new to exercise, if you’ve been inactive for a long time, or if you are still recovering from delivery you can choose lower-impact options. Either way, you’ll be doing something positive for your health and setting a great example for your little one(s).

As with all our classes, babies and kids of all ages are welcome at this class.

No stroller?  No problem!  The majority of participants have a baby in a stroller for class, but if you prefer to keep your little one in a carrier rather than a stroller, modified exercises will be given.  We also understand that toddlers like to run free and that there may also be times when you get to leave your baby with another caregiver while you work out.  Gasp!  Wouldn’t that be dreamy?

Strollerfit takes place at Soccer World (104 Frid St, Hamilton) at 1030 on Thursdays.  Y or arrange a free trial by contacting info@strollerfithamilton.com at any time.

For birth mothers, it is suggested that you wait at least 6 weeks after giving birth before participating, but you may participate earlier with doctor/midwife clearance.

What you need to bring to this class:

  • A sturdy stroller – fancy jogging strollers not required
  • Supportive shoes – no flip flops, please
  • Yoga mat or blanket for floor exercises
  • Baby carrier (optional – for babies who want to snuggle rather than be in their stroller)
  • Water bottle – you’re going to sweat
  • The usual things you’d bring to occupy your child(ren) when on an outing (snacks, toys, etc)

What you can expect in this class:

  • Social circle where we check in to see what’s new and exciting in each other’s lives
  • 20 minutes of at-your-own-pace cardio with some arm exercises thrown in to keep things lively
  • 10 minutes of leg strengthening to keep our heart rates up and get our burn on
  • 10 minutes of core exercises that will strengthen the abs and back
  • At the end there are usually high fives and more socializing

Pilates: On the Pilates front, classes are a fusion of Stott Pilates and other functional core exercises. I have the ability to modify for all levels and with 18 years of rehabilitation experience I am able to create a setting for any injury or condition (ie. disc herniation, broken wrists, to prenatal conditioning at 9 months pregnant all in the same class). I also work with your health care provider (physiotherapists, chiropractor, osteopath, naturopath etc) to create the ideal wellness plan for you personally.

Private Kinections (© 2017) :  Pelvic Floor Pilates. This is a 6-week course.  You will start with an assessment with Physiotherapist Kristen Parise or Megan Soloman of Blueberry Therapy.  Along with physiotherapist’s recommendations, we will create a specialized program for small group training.  http://www.blueberrytherapy.ca .

Functional Fitness: classes are varied, challenging and focus on keeping the routine fresh and unexpected. We train indoors in the cold weather and head outside to a few different park locations in the warmer months. Some days we use hand weights, on others, we will use a variety of training equipment like bosu balls, tubing, agility ladders, or skipping ropes. And sometimes we just rely on the resistance of our own bodies to train. Either way, it’s an hour of intense, but fun, fitness.

Shar Barre:   This class involves a whole lot of posterior power.  Focusing on building a better back and butt.  Taking traditional barre type movements and injecting some fun functional additions.

Circuit Class- A great class for every ability and level.  We have been known to have expecting moms who can still do these classes.  Modifications are always available and you can work at your own intensity.  Of course, we will help to motivate you to get you out of your comfort zone and build a better you!

Kinetic Girl Power Hour- Have you noticed there are not many classes for tween-teens?  There are many activities for those who are athletically inclined but often these activities do not include focusing on age/ gender appropriate training.  That’s what Kinetic Girl Power Hour is all about.  This 45-minute class is for 12-18-year-old girls who would like to learn, enhance, and apply all aspects of Power.  This means physical, emotional and mental.  Classes include strengthening with education, core/ pelvic floor health and education, flexibility training and stretching.  The class will always finish with a reboot focusing on mindfulness and meditation. Research has proven that being social is an important part of getting fit.  Guest trainers will pop in to teach about the importance of mentoring, fitness in their lives and power of the mind!  Most of all- it will be FUN!

Group Corporate Fitness Classes

Sometimes I am flabbergasted that corporations do not offer wellness and fitness classes. I have been teaching these classes for 18 years in different settings (RCMP in Montreal, Public Health, Arcelor Mittal, City of Burlington and many more). I see the benefits these classes bring to high stress/ demanding employees. I believe if you were to ask any one of those participating in a lunch hour class or class directly after work they consensus would be a total decrease in stress level and increase in endorphins. If you are looking to fit a class in and can get a group of co-workers together for lunch or after work, this may be a great option to sneak in your wellness. All classes offered!

Personal Kinesiology Training

The truth is that all of our clients get one on one attention. But if you are looking for an individual training experience and care then you might consider personal training. We can come to you or you come to the studio. And I focus solely on you and your individual aspirations and goals. In the past, my personal training clients have recovered from injury, knocked off an important bucket list goal and worked off all that was hiding the real them. And it was work that we did together. Heck, even some of my personal training clients choose to come to group workouts from time to time. Ask us if personal training might be a fit for you!

Rock Tape Applications

I’m a certified Level 1 Rock Doc which means I have been trained to apply Rock Tape, a kinesiology tape designed to treat injuries and improve movement. I’ll let Rock Tape do the talking….here’s a snippet from their site where you can learn more.

“What is Rocktape?”

RockTape is a special kind of tape known as kinesiology tape. First used by acupuncturists and chiropractors in Japan, today kinesiology tape is used by practitioners throughout the world to treat injuries and improve sports performance.

While the use of kinesiology is often associated with athletes such as Serena Williams, Kerri Walsh and Lance Armstrong, the reality is that RockTape is effective for the treatment of a wide variety of problems, not just sports injuries.

“Taping Movement, Not Muscles”

If you are a chiropractor, physical therapist, sports doctor, personal trainer or other professional interested in learning to apply Rocktape to support sport-specific fascial chains.

“How does Rocktape work?”

When we manufacture RockTape, we introduce a bias into the weave of the fabric so it stretches in one direction and not the other. This creates a bio-mechanical lifting mechanism that lifts the skin away from the soft tissue underneath, which allows more blood to move into an injured area to accelerate healing and recovery.”
